What do victoria secret models really eat
For models who don't eat meat, Passler says plant-based protein shakes and legumes are a great way to get the protein they need to build muscle and tone up for the show. Dinner is something similar to lunch and involves all of the aforementioned macronutrients, and this probably goes without saying, but the models aren't enjoying dessert during show prep. Food isn't the only thing to keep in mind when developing an effective nutrition plan, though.
Passler stresses sleep and water when working with the models. He recommended seven to eight hours of sleep per night around the hours of 10 p. Lastly, the models are constantly downing water to stay hydrated and recover from their workouts.
Passler said they drink around two quarts of water daily, plus an additional quart depending on the intensity of their workouts. He also suggested replenishing electrolytes, minerals in the body that preserve nutrients and keep the body functioning properly, according to the National Institutes of Health. Passler says drugstores offer good over-the-counter electrolyte drinks, or you can opt for coconut water, although it does contain added sugar.
While the models' eating plan is certainly regimented, Passler says this lifestyle choice can make a major difference. Candice Swanepoel is a good example! She often has a light dinner, something like veggie soup, especially when she eats a more filling lunch. And she usually has a big breakfast eggs with bacon are her faves. Adriana Lima, now a former VS model, but still an absolute icon, often makes a fresh salad with chicken for dinner.
Kelsey Merritt may be a relative newcomer, but she already knows that a VS angel needs to have an excellent diet. So, for dinner, she usually eats out but she always picks the healthiest option: fresh veggie salad or fish.
Devon Windsor prefers to cook, and she often makes a Thai chicken soup. Lily Aldridge is one of the few models who likes to have a more filling dinner, so she sometimes likes to indulge in a grilled steak! Most Victoria Secret models like to have healthy snacks available at all times. Former VS Angel, Alessandra Ambrosio , always pre-packed her healthy snacks before going to work, and her faves were chia seed energy bars, almonds and fresh fruit.
Also a former VS model, Izabel Goulart , has one of the toughest and healthiest routines in the industry. I mean, just look at her! I have a thing for fruit stand! Izabel always has a post-workout snack that is most often a protein shake. And protein shakes are truly one of the best post-workout snacks. And the gorgeous Gigi Hadid always makes sure to have healthy snacks on hand. Her faves? The same goes for her close friend, Kendall. Well, yes!
Adriana Lima loves nothing more than a good chocolate cake and she admits that is hard for her to control herself when it comes to chocolate! Karlie Kloss and Shanina Shaik are all about that chocolate, too. So, every day, Karlie indulges in a bit of dark chocolate. Her favourite brand is Hu Kitchen Dark Chocolate. And Shanina occasionally treats herself with vegan hot chocolate! Elsa Hosk and Taylor Hill , on the other hand, prefer something more savory for their treat meals.
So, for Elsa, a perfect meal is actually a grilled cheese sandwich, and, for Taylor, pizza! But remember, the models eat a healthy diet the majority of the time, so they can handle cheat meals, or even cheat days, from time to time. This time of the year is perfect for hot chocolate!! Vegan hot chocolate mmmmmm??? They also eat the majority of their carbs earlier in the day, rather than at night. This is because your body can metabolize carbs better in the morning and post-workout and is less likely to store carbs as fat at these times.
For the majority of models, their carb sources come from vegetables; however, they do allow Ezekiel bread and brown rice twice per week.
But some models get even stricter a couple of weeks before the show. Shanina Shaik cuts out ALL carbs except those in veggies. OK, so this varies. Bridget Malcolm said she was once asked to eat as little as calories. Read more: 15 things you should never eat or drink if you want a flat stomach.
Models Josephine Skriver and Jasmine Tookes have started an Instagram specifically for diet and exercise posts. In one Instagram post to their joint wellness account, Skriver and Tookes discuss the importance of carbs in their diets. The two gush over their obsession with rice and talk about using carbs as fuel for their workouts. The two also frequently post photos of delicious rice-based bowls that are packed with lean proteins and vegetables.
They typically eat these bowls to refuel after a tough workout. In conversation with Byrdie , Josephine Skriver echoed this sentiment, saying: "I just eat a lot of protein and a lot of veggies, and I make sure I get my carbs because the way I work out, I need healthier carbs like brown rice or sweet potatoes because if I cut out carbs, I would have no energy to do what I do.
The younger Hadid sister told Coveteur said she opts for healthy drinks when she's in need of a "detox. It just feel a little healthier than drinking regular water. When I eat badly for a while, I need to do a Monday-Wednesday cleanse to be able to flush everything out and detox.
Plus, I'll work out four to five days a week," the model told Us Weekly. I just set my schedule that's just what it is. So it's a habit for me, and it takes a while to form a habit. I notice that I lose my muscles when I [just do] cardio. Some of the other girls do more cardio because it's better for their body shape—again, it's so hard for me to give you specifics and say, If you work out like this, your body is going to look like mine.
Half of it's genetics, and half of it is figuring out what works for you. But it's a journey, and it's hopefully a fun journey. I know one of my friends, she is that person. She works out a lot, but she can eat whatever, whenever, and it's kind of annoying. But that's why I love to talk about it, because, for me, I want to feel sexy and I want to build shape, so it's all about working out and building that butt and building shape and curves, and you have to eat accordingly for that—you have to eat in healthy moderation.
For me, I travel the world and sometimes have three red-eyes in a week, and if I don't eat for fuel or eat to stay energized … I can't live off of burgers! My body is like my temple, and you only get one shot. I don't believe in quick fixes. There's no such thing as doing 30 ab exercises and then you get a six-pack.
Even if you do really well for three months and you look great, the second you stop … it has to be like a lifestyle thing. I've always been active, so in that sense, it wasn't hard for me to work out, but I do work out a lot. But then you have to let yourself cheat once in a while; you have to give yourself a cheat day and give yourself a splurge—I actually hate the term cheat day , so I call them treat days.
Cheat feels like, Oh, I should be ashamed! You shouldn't feel guilty about eating a burger, but for me, it's more about knowing the nutritious value of what's in a good piece of chicken or veggies. Eat the right kind of carbs and think about what will keep you energized throughout the day. I just eat a lot of protein and a lot of veggies, and I make sure I get my carbs because the way I work out, I need healthier carbs like brown rice or sweet potatoes because if I cut out carbs, I would have no energy to do what I do.
For breakfast today, I had scrambled eggs, spinach, and a cup of brown rice. I would say most of the time it's grains, protein, and rice, but sometimes for lunch, I don't do as many carbs because it makes me sleepy. But for breakfast, it's such a good start—especially after my workout, I'm dead tired and I need fuel for the whole day. My biggest meal is breakfast—sometimes I have it twice because I'm so hungry.
But I don't really cut out any food groups. I think just everything in moderation—I feel like the second you cut something out it becomes Oh, I'm not allowed to have that. I obviously don't eat sugar and junk food every day, but I make sure once a week you have a good treat day and you just go all out.
